Day 4: Radio Violetta
“Jean” is used like slide show blending from one image to another. These pictures show an old, broken tube radio. On top of the slide show “Jean” is animating simple geometric shapes.
SuperCollider is sending OSC messages to “Jean” to announce when a new shape should become visible.
“analog Not analog” is continuously capturing the visual output of “Jean”. The most visually striking filter in this signal chain is an outline detection filter. This outlines are calculated by OpenCV. This is very computationally intensive and runs at only with a few frames per second. Outlines are visually enhanced and blended with the upstream visual signal.

The photographs for this animation were taken over the past few weeks. They’re for my application to a group exhibition. The theme of the exhibition is “Außer Betrieb” (Out of Order). I didn’t want to portray the old devices as completely dead, so i used a lot of colorful lighting.
