M.A.N

M.A.N is my memory of a broken down truck. The wreckage stood for years on an abandoned industrial site.

Most of the original material was recorded in analog. All glitch effects are created with the open source software ‘analog Not analog’. The granular sound is generated in SuperCollider. At the end of the animation this granular sound is replaced by bird chirping. A CC0 recording from hargissssound called “Spring Birds 2019” is faded in. The compositing of the animation is done in Kdenlive.

Here are two videos mixed from 1937. The blaze at the landing of the LZ 129 at Lakehurst and a flight over New York City. The New York City video includes a text panel, “All is serene —“. A euphoric statement made before the disaster in which 39 people died.
